➤Liquid Liposomal B12
➤More Potent than Capsules or Tablets
➤Delivers Nutrients directly to the bloodstream and cells
➤Easy to Absorb
➤Great for Digestive Problems
➤No Need to Swallow Capsules
Ekolife Natura Liposomal Vitamin B12 is an ultra bio-available liquid Vitamin B12 supplement. Wonderful for anyone with digestive problems, or for those with difficulty swallowing capsules or tablets, Liposomes are easily absorbed and the products encapsulated by Liposomes achieve much higher blood dosage levels than found in non-encapsulated products such as traditional tablets.
Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is one of the eight B vitamins. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the human body, especially affecting DNA synthesis and regulation, but also fatty acid metabolism and amino acid metabolism. Neither fungi, plants, nor animals (including humans) are capable of producing vitamin B12. Only bacteria and archaea have the enzymes required for its synthesis, although many foods are a natural source of B12 because of bacterial symbiosis.
The vitamin B12 is the largest and most structurally complicated vitamin and can be produced industrially only through bacterial fermentation-synthesis. A common semi-synthetic form of the vitamin is cyanocobalamin, which does not occur in nature (!) and is usually found in cheaper versions of products.
Vitamin B12 used in supplements is produced by fermentation processes using micro-organisms. There are 4 types commercially available:cyanocobalamin with a cyanide group attached to the cobalt, and the more natural forms hydroxo-cobalamin, methyl-cobalamin and adenosyl-cobalamin.
The latter three are preferred as the human body can easily use these forms. Ekolife natura B12 is derived from natural source and it’s a form of bacterial Hydroxocobalamin.
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is essential for several processes in our body cells; It contributes to the reduction of fatigue, to a normal functioning of our immune system and to a normalization of the functioning of our nervous system.
It is estimated that at least half of the population has a low B12 blood level. In most cases a deficit is not caused by an excessively low intake through food. Often the body cannot properly absorb the vitamin B12 present in food, due to various causes:- disorders of the stomach which result in a reduced Intrinsic Factor concentration, necessary for the absorption of the vitamin B12 (extrinsic factor), and the use of some medicines.
Next to that, not all people are able to use the absorbed B12 in a proper way within the body resulting in a relatively vitamin B12 shortage. Vitamin B12 is present in large amounts in products as meat, meat products, fish, eggs milk and milk products. Vegetarians and Vegans run the risk of a vitamin B12 deficiency very easily.
These factors make the intake of supplements with B12 crucial.
What are the symptoms of B12 deficiency?
A vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to:
- low energy levels,
- feeling light-headed and
- shortness of breath.
- weight loss,
- tingling in hands and feet,
- weak legs,
- disturbance of equilibrium,
- memory loss and confusion
The attraction of using liposomes to deliver nutrients, supplements and drugs into the body is that they are easily absorbed by the gastro-intestinal tract, with the additional encapsulated molecules being also absorbed at the same time. This overcomes the barrier that faces many beneficial products of getting absorbed into the body at effective levels. The body will often break down many complex molecules before they are absorbed or will just not readily absorb them and so absorption levels are reduced.
However, Liposomes can also go further, to assist to deliver the active molecules to the cellular sites of action where the body requires a high level of the nutrient. The lipid bilayer of the liposome can fuse with other bilayers such as the cell membrane itself, thus delivering the liposome contents into the cells.
Liposomes are made from extracts of lecithin which contain phospholipids, mixed with other molecules that we may wish to attach. Liposomes vary in size from low nanometer up to tens of micrometers. When combined with water, phospholipids form microscopic structures with a central void encapsulating water and within that water we can dissolve other molecules, such as Vitamin C which we would like to have absorbed easily into the body. Whilst hydro-philic molecules can be held within the encapsulated water, hydrophobic chemicals can be dissolved into the membrane itself and in this way liposomes have the ability to carry both hydrophobic and hydrophilic molecules. Due to their unique properties liposomes are used for the formulation of drugs, food supplements and cosmetics.
The formation of liposomes requires significant levels of energy. Phospholipids are combined with water and energy is applied in a controlled process using sonification or an ultra-turrax. The lipid vesicles will then form into either single, or multiple, bi-layers separated by water molecules. This process is controlled to create particles small enough to be readily absorbed into the blood stream.
