Ekolife Natura Liposomal Coenzyme Q10 is an ultra bio-available liquid CoQ10 supplement. Wonderful for anyone with digestive problems, or for those with difficulty swallowing capsules or tablets, Liposomes are easily absorbed and the products encapsulated by Liposomes achieve much higher blood dosage levels than found in non-encapsulated products such as traditional tablets.

To improve the bodies absorption process Ekolife natura offers a Liposomal Q10. When using Ekolife Natura Liposomal Q10 the bioavailability of the Q10 in the body is much higher than when using traditional oral forms. The Q10 is transported within the liposomes directly into the bloodstream and to the cells. Coenzyme Q10 is a naturally occurring substance which naturally is involved in the energy production of body cells. The endogenous substance that is produced in the liver. It is a co-enzyme, which is a substance that is necessary for an enzyme to be able to work.

Natural occurring Q10 helps enzymes in the production of ATP. This is the molecule in which the body stores energy reserves, after which it can be used by the body. Without Q10, cells are not able to produce energy for numerous activities in the whole body, that is why human cells produce it on their own.

Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, and abbreviated at times to CoQ10. This oil-soluble, vitamin-like substance is present in most eukaryotic cells, primarily in the mitochondria. It is a component of the electron transport chain and participates in aerobic cellular respiration, generating energy in the form of ATP. The highest concentration is found on the inner membrane of the mitochondrion. Some other organelles that contain CoQ10 include endoplasmic reticulum, peroxisomes, lysosomes, and vesicles. Ninety-five percent of the human body’s energy is generated this way. Therefore, those organs with the highest energy requirements such as the heart, liver and kidney have the highest CoQ10 concentrations. Thus, CoQ10 functions in every cell of the body to synthesize energy.

CoQ10 is fat-soluble and is therefore mobile in cellular membranes; it plays a unique role in the electron transport chain (ETC). In the inner mitochondrial membrane, electrons from NADH and succinate pass through the ETC to oxygen, which is reduced to water.

CoQ10 is made naturally in the body, but deficiency may occur due to disease, low dietary intake, or high CoQ10 use by the body. Symptoms of deficiency include heart failure, high blood pressure, and chest pain. Depending on the cause of deficiency, supplementing with CoQ10 or increasing dietary intake may be effective.

Heart disease

Early evidence suggests that CoQ10 may be effective for chronic heart failure. Low blood levels of CoQ10 have been associated with this condition. CoQ10 has been used in combination with other herbs and supplements for chronic heart failure. There is good evidence to support the use of CoQ10 in the treatment of high blood pressure. However, more studies evaluating a higher dose for a longer treatmentperiod are needed.

Liposomal technology

The attraction of using liposomes to deliver nutrients, supplements and drugs into the body is that they are easily absorbed by the gastro-intestinal tract, with the additional encapsulated molecules being also absorbed at the same time. This overcomes the barrier that faces many beneficial products of getting absorbed into the body at effective levels. The body will often break down many complex molecules before they are absorbed or will just not readily absorb them and so absorption levels are reduced.

However, Liposomes can also go further, to assist to deliver the active molecules to the cellular sites of action where the body requires a high level of the nutrient. The lipid bilayer of the liposome can fuse with other bilayers such as the cell membrane itself, thus delivering the liposome contents into the cells.

Liposomes are made from extracts of lecithin which contain phospholipids, mixed with other molecules that we may wish to attach. Liposomes vary in size from low nanometer up to tens of micrometers. When combined with water, phospholipids form microscopic structures with a central void encapsulating water and within that water we can dissolve other molecules, such as Vitamin C which we would like to have absorbed easily into the body. Whilst hydro-philic molecules can be held within the encapsulated water, hydrophobic chemicals can be dissolved into the membrane itself and in this way liposomes have the ability to carry both hydrophobic and hydrophilic molecules. Due to their unique properties liposomes are used for the formulation of drugs, food supplements and cosmetics.

Liposome Production

The formation of liposomes requires significant levels of energy. Phospholipids are combined with water and energy is applied in a controlled process using sonification or an ultra-turrax. The lipid vesicles will then form into either single, or multiple, bi-layers separated by water molecules. This process is controlled to create particles small enough to be readily absorbed into the blood stream.
